Students Named to 2020-2021 District and State Honor Bands
Please join us in congratulating the Union High School band students whom have been named to the 2020-2021 All-District and All-State Honor Bands rosters! Competing with hundreds of peers from around the region and state for top honors, the extra work and dedication of these students, particularly those who advanced to and made the All-State band, is to be recognized with great pride. Of special note, seniors Abigail Ren & Xavier Williams, both clarinetists, have been named to the All-State during all three years of eligibility to do so; this recognition is among the highest of honors for student musicians in Oklahoma. In late January (2021), All-State members will participate in a virtual clinic and performance in conjunction with the Oklahoma Music Educators Association’s annual convention.

MACY*S TRIP UPDATE MEETING: THURSDAY, DECEMBER 17 on ZOOM
Registration for the Union H.S. Renegade Regiment’s trip to New York City for the 2021 Macy*s Thanksgiving Day Parade opened a few weeks ago! We want to share more info with students and parents about what will happen during the trip next year: where we’ll go, what we’ll see, and what we’ll do. We know that this is a an experience that no student will want to miss, and next Thursday night, Dec. 17 at 7:00pm we’re going to tell you WHY! Be looking next week for for meeting info (Zoom link). UPDATE: In-Person Class Rehearsals during Distance Learning
We’ve had a good first week of a new approach: In-Person Union H.S. band class rehearsals during the Union district’s distance learning model. Students may choose how they participate in band rehearsals, whether from home via Zoom or on-campus, or in-person. All details on how is approach works is available in Canvas. Special thanks to parents for helping your student get to & from in-person band rehearsals. Please contact your student’s band class teacher with specific questions.

@UhsBands1h provides general information as applicable to band students enrolled in 1st Period Band. This Remind code was established in August 2020 and already has many subscribers; please continue to subscribe to messages from this code.
an ensemble-specific code; as of Dec. 1, all first period band students now meet in one of two smaller groups, and will accordingly receive Remind messages as pertinent to their assigned ensemble.
@UhsSband is the subscription code for Symphonic Band class students; this class is led by Mrs. Lollis
@UhsCband is the subscription code for Concert Band class students; this class is led by Mrs. Ayers & Mrs. Barnes.
2nd Period Band Class Students and Parents will continue to receive Remind updates using subscription code @UhsBands2h
