HONOR BAND PARTICIPATION

10th, 11th, & 12th Graders in the Union HS Band are eligible and encouraged to audition for the NBDA All-District Honor Band & the OkMEA All-State Band. 

7th, 8th, & 9th Graders are eligible to audition for NBDA Junior High All-District Honor Band. 

Hundreds of band students from schools in the region (Broken Arrow, Bartlesville, Pryor, Grove) audition to be part of an 'honor band'; this honor band meets later in the school year for clinic, the purpose of which is to prepare advanced music for an honor concert, led by a special guest conductor.

Audition PROCESS

  • The audition takes place Saturday, November 7, 2026. 8:30am, at Broken Arrow High School.

  • Those students who advance to the State Level will audition on Saturday, December 5, 2026 at Westmoore High School in Moore, OK.

  • Don't wait until the last minute to practice; you have over six months to prepare, so take your time and prepare thoroughly.

  • Don't forget to work scales (brasses and woodwind players).
