WHEN DO I NEED TO GET AN INSTRUMENT?
Please wait until after school has begun to acquire the band instrument. We have a systematic process, including recommending brands of instruments that are both affordable and constructed with quality craftsmanship ensuring the instrument will last, as well as relationships with retailers……

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
During the 5th Grade, your student’s journey to join the Union Band began when our team of 6th Grade Band teachers visited his/her elementary site in early February to demonstrate all the great things about playing an instruments.
Then in late February your child attended a field trip to the Union Performing Arts Center (“UPAC”) in late February, where all Union 5th Graders saw current 6th Graders performing their musical instruments on the stage.
Following the UPAC event, 5th Graders chose an Elective Course for the 6th Grade Year as part of the general enrollment process.
Our team of teachers visited your child’s Union Elementary site in May to help students take the important step toward being successful playing a musical instrument by completing the “fitting” process.
