STUDENT ITINERARY

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 23

  • 9:15pm Band Building Unlocked

  • 9:45pm  Team Meeting in BR1 — Luggage should be left outside on bus loop.

  • 10:00pm Load buses

    • Wind instruments in bus luggage bays. Flute and clarinet cases stored in bus cabin.

    • Suitcase/duffle stored in bus luggage bays. Backpack or smaller bag in bus cabin.

  • 10:30pm  Depart UHS

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 24

  • SWITCH TO EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME

  • 6:45am Breakfast served (Meal location: Golden Corral in Effingham, IL)

  • 7:45am Depart breakfast location

  • 11:30am Arrive Rehearsal Location: GRAND PARK SPORTS COMPLEX in Indianapolis

    • Unload Trucks

  • 12:00pm Rehearsal

  • 2:00pm Rehearsal Concludes

    • Load Trucks

    • Lunch Served

    • Load buses

  • 2:45pm Depart GRAND PARK

  • 3:30pm Arrive LUCAS OIL STADIUM for venue preview

    • BACKPACKS cannot be brought into the stadium!

    • Students and Full-Time Staff Only

  • 4:15pm Load buses & Depart for Hotel (downtown Indy)

  • 4:30pm Arrive Hotel

    • unload luggage

    • check into hotel rooms

    • shower

  • 5:30pm Load buses

  • 5:45pm Depart hotel for Dinner

  • 6:15pm Arrive Dave & Buster’s for dinner and games

  • 8:15pm Load buses and depart to Hotel

  • 8:45pm Arrive hotel. Section Meetings

  • 10:15pm Curfew (in rooms)

  • 10:45pm Lights Out

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 25

  • 6:00am

    • Latest Wake Up Time

    • Breakfast served - hotel lobby

    • Pre-pack clothes in 2 sets

      • In Backpack or Sling Bag: for Saturday afternoon (show shirt + jeans)

      • Into separate bag: clothes for overnight bus trip home

    • Pack, Shower, Dress into RR / performance gear

      • Winds Attire - Black Shorts, Black RR Shirt, Black Sliders / Tank/ Long Socks

      • Guard Attire - Per Ms. Hubbard

    • CHECK OUT OF HOTEL / NO BELONGINGS LEFT BEHIND

  • 6:50am Room checks begin

  • 7:00am Load Luggage Onto Buses - all members load buses

  • 7:20am Buses depart Embassy Suites hotel

  • 7:30am Unload buses @ Crown Plaza Hotel

    • Anything needed for performances must be taken from

    • Wind Instruments from bus carried to Crown Plaza Rooms

  • 7:40am Dress in to costume / hairstyling

  • 8:05am Percussion and Loading Crew Walk to Lucas Oil Stadium Parking Lot on foot

  • 8:15am UNLOAD TRUCKS

  • 8:20am All others depart for Lucas Oil Stadium on foot

  • 9:05am Ramp

    • SW Ramp/Tunnel: Battery, Front Ensemble, Audio, Guard, and all others not moving sets/props

    • Missouri St Ramp: All Sets/Props

  • 9:15-9:45am Pit Warmup

  • 9:15-9:30am Physical Warmup

  • 9:30-10:00am Music Warm-Up

  • 9:50am Pit + Sets/Props Report

  • 10:05am Wind/Battery/Guard Report

  • 10:15am PRELIMS PERFORMANCE

  • 10:25am Push Props and Equipment to Top of Ramp

  • 10:30am Group Picture

  • 11:15am

    • Load Trucks

    • Walk to Crown Plaza in two groups

      • All students except for Loading Crew and Percussion

      • All other students

    • At Crown Plaza

      • Dress out of costume

      • Dress into show shirt & jeans

      • Wind instruments remain in cases at C.P. storage rooms.

  • 12:30pm Depart on foot from Crown Plaza to Circle Center Mall

  • 12:45pm Lunch and Free Time at the Mall

    • Cash distribution

  • 2:15pm Meet at designated mall location and depart to Stadium

  • 2:30pm Arrive at L.O.S.

    • Adhere to instructions for designated seating section

    • Souvenir shopping

    • Watch Performances & Prelims Awards

  • 3:00pm Drum Majors report for Awards in costume

Parents who wish to check their child out must email president@unionbands.com ahead of time.  After the student is out of uniform and all responsibilities have been fulfilled, please check the student out with their director and sign them off of the bus roster with their appointed bus captain.

SUnday, OCTOBER 26

  • SWITCH TO CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME

  • 8:45am Breakfast stop at Buccee’s (Springfield,MO)

    • Cash distribution

  • 9:30am Depart Breakfast Location

  • 12:15pm approx Arrive at Union High School

    • Instruments except sousaphones, battery percussion, front ensemble percussion, and audio will be unloaded form buses then stowed in band lockers as usual


WHAT TO PACK? 

  • LUGGAGE

    • Small suitcase or large duffle. No large bags or suitcases are allowed. 

  • PERFORMANCE ATTIRE & GEAR

    • Tank compression shirt

    • Sliders (2 pairs)

    • Marching shoes (if not already on the uniform cart )

    • Long black socks (2 pairs)

    • BLACK member shorts as cover-up during dressing

    • Big-U/RR shirt as cover-up during dressing

  • PERFORMANCE ATTIRE & GEAR - GUARD

    • please see packing list from Ms. Hubbard

  • EVENT ATTENDANCE ATTIRE

    • Show shirt

    • GRAY member hoodie

    • Jeans

    • Comfortable shoes

  • TRAVEL WEAR & GEAR 

    • Travel clothing (suggest: shorts / sweatpants / long or short sleeve t-shirts / etc.)

    • Comfortable shoes / flip-flops / etc. for long bus rides and other down-time 

    • Backpack / duffle / sling bag

    • Jacket / hoodie

    • Pillow & blanket

    • Homework / book

    • Phone / charger / battery pack

    • DVDs (G, PG, PG-13)

    • Snacks (drink bottles must have screw-top lid)

    • Extra $ if desired for souvenirs, etc. (all meals are provided)

    • Personal / portable electronic devices must have headphones / ear buds

  • Personal Care & Wear

    • Deodorant

    • Soap

    • Shampoo & hair care

    • Other cosmetic and/or hygiene items as pertinent

    • Undergarments

    • Sleepwear

    • Medications: please check in with our trip nurse.

  • WHAT ELSE?

    • Small suitcase or large duffle = your luggage. No large bags or suitcases are allowed.  We recommend pre-packing the change of clothes for the Saturday night / Sunday AM overnight bus trip in the bus duffle bag.

  • BRING VALUABLES ONLY AT YOUR OWN RISK 

  • DO NOT BRING

    • Drugs, Alcohol, Tobacco Products, Weapons

OVERNIGHT PARKING ON CAMPUS

If planning to park your vehicle on campus throughout the duration of the trip, please park in the UHS South (student) parking lot.
