Lindsey Hansen moves to Union High School after 10 years as Head Director of the 7th-12th grade Guard Programs at Odessa Middle School and High School in Odessa, MO. While at Odessa, the guard program earned numerous awards and recognition.
Awards earned by the Varsity Winter Guard include:
* MCGGA Scholastic A Gold Medalist in 2006 and 2008, Bronze Medalist in 2007
* MCCGA Scholastic Open Gold Medalist in 2009
* WGI Kansas City Regional Scholastic A Champion in 2006 and 2008
* WGI Kansas City Regional Scholastic Open Champion in 2009
National Awards and Recognition include: in 2008, the Odessa Varsity Winter Guard finished Top 10 in the Nation at the WGI World Championships in Dayton, Ohio, in the Scholastic A Class, making a name for itself nationally. They were only the second team in Missouri High School history to be awarded this honor.
The Middle School Winter Guard Program also earned the Gold Medal 4 times in their 5 years of existence at the Mid-Continent Color Guard Association Championships. In 2005, the unit competed in the MCCGA Regional A Class, against 14 high school units, finishing 5th overall at Championships.
The Odessa color guard program was proud to also be a part of the Odessa High School Band of Distinction and earn numerous accolades in the Bands of America Regional Competitions as well as Grand Nationals.
Lindsey has been the Public Relations Director for the Mid-Continent Color Guard Association for the past 3 years, and has judged various marching band contests throughout Missouri. She has a Bachelors Degree in Music Education and was also the Odessa Middle School choir Director for three years, taught in a private dance studio, and performed with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City before the guard program became a full time undertaking. She has choreographed for numerous schools across the country, including collegiate dance teams who have appeared on the National DanceTeam Championships on ESPN.
Lindsey and her husband, Kenny, have 3 boys; Jack, 8, Maxwell, 20 months and Samuel, 5 months. They are more than humbled and honored to be working with such an amazing program here at Union High School.
