Union HS's RENEGADE REGIMENT marching band placed 6th in the finals competition at the Bands of America Grand National Championship, held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Union advanced to Semi-Finals with the top 32 competing groups out of a field of 92 bands from throughout the U.S., then making the cut for the prestigious Top 12 Finalist bands.

The Union High School Marching Band will compete at the 2011 Bands Of America Grand National Championships November 11-12 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Prior to departure, the group will be presenting a uniformed send-off dress rehearsal on Tuesday, 11/8 at 8:00 p.m.
The Union High School Renegade Regiment earned a Second Place finish among 54 competing bands on Saturday, October 15 at the Bands of America St. Louis Super-Regional Marching Championship. The group earned a final score of 82.45.
Congratulations to all of the participating band performers, directors, and booster organizations at the 29th-Annual Renegade Review Marching Band Championship, and a special congratulations to the Grand Champion Owasso High School Marching Band! Thanks to all of the spectators who gave the performers a great audience throughout the day. And warm kudos to Alan Mueggenborg and Dan Klaassen, and their army of workers and other volunteers, who made this terrific event possible.
The Union High School Renegade Regiment completed its first competitive appearance of the 2011 on Saturday, September 24, at the Owasso Marching Invitational, held at the campus of Owasso High School. The Regiment earned highest honors, sweeping its classification award, all caption awards in both preliminary & final rounds of competition, as well as the Grand Champion Award (1st Place), with a final score of 82.9.
The Union High School Renegade Regiment will appear on Saturday, September 24, at the Owasso Invitational, in its first competitive performance of 2011 season.
Union Bands welcomes Mr. Wayne Downey (Walnut Creek, CA) for a 3-day residency on August 31-September 2. During his stay, Mr. Downey will be working with the Renegade Regiment in preparation for the 2011 competitive marching season, as well as mentoring the band faculty & staff.

Congrats to all Union Bands Students who have participated in the Fifth-Annual Summer Band Camp this week! Special thanks to the directors who have taught the camp classes, and to DS-Innovations for sponsoring the event.
Presented by DS-Innovations, Union Bands is hosting its Fifth Annual Summer Band Camp June 6-10 at Union High School. Designed to provided beginner-level instrumental instruction for incoming Union Sixth Graders, and enrichment for 7th-12th graders, the camp is led by Union's own band directors.
The Union Eighth Grade Band, under the direction of Mr. Ken Hansen, traveled to the University of North Texas in Denton on Friday, May 6, to perform at the Peak Music Festival.
The Renegade Rally Car & Motorcycle Show, originally scheduled for Saturday, April 23rd, has been canceled due to rain. The event as been tentatively rescheduled for Saturday, May 28, 2011.

According to unofficial election results, the 2011 Union Public Schools Bond Issue passed with more than 87-percent of voters approving.
The NBDA Junior-High (7th,8th,9th Grades) All-District Honor Band Clinic, originally scheduled for this weekend (Fri-Sat Feb 4-5) has been canceled. Rescheduling information will be forthcoming.
Congratulations to the Union 8th Grade, JV & Varsity winter guards for placing 1st in their respective divisions at the Moore HS contest this past weekend. Also, the 8th Grade & JV groups were both promoted to the next level of classification due to their achievement.
