Union Public Schools is proud to announce that the Union High School Renegade Regiment marching band is a 2010 Bands of America Grand Nationals Finalist! 2010 marks the return of the Renegade Regiment to a status among the elite competitive high school marching bands in the country; the Regiment last appeared as a Grand Nationals Finalist in 2000.
The Union High School Marching Band ("Renegade Regiment") competed on Friday-Saturday, October 15-16, at the Bands of America Super-Regional Championship at the Edward Jones Dome (home of the NFL St. Louis Rams) in Saint Louis. The group made a very strong showing, earning the Bronze Medal (during both the Preliminary and Final rounds of competition) among 48 competing marching bands, and earning the award for Outstanding Visual Performance in the Finals. The Regiment has made steady progress at this event in recent years, with a 13th-place finish in 2006, 7th-place in 2007, and 4th-place in 2009.
The Union High School Marching Band ("Renegade Regiment") competed on Saturday, October 9, at the UCO Marching Contest in Edmond, sweeping the Music, Visual, & General Effect awards in the preliminary & final rounds of competition, and earning the title of Grand Champion with a final score of 82.85.
After another successful Renegade Review, the Union High School Marching Band is excited to head to the University of Central Oklahoma this Saturday, October 9 for the UCO Marching Contest. We hope to see you in Edmond to help support the Renegade Regiment!
The students, staff and parents of the Union High School Renegade Regiment are pleased to host the 28th Annual Renegade Review Marching Band Championship this Saturday October 2nd, and are proud to welcome so many excellent bands from around the region to our campus. In addition to an outstanding panel of adjudicators from around the country, Renegade Review offers one of the best acoustic environments of its type in the region as well as excellent access to many local restaurants, hotels and shopping.
The Renegade Regiment made its debut for the 2010 competitive season today (Saturday, September 25) at the Owasso Marching Invitational, earning the title of Class Champion, and swept the Music, Visual, & General Effect Captions in the preliminary & final rounds of competition, as well as Grand Champion of the contest with a score of 74.9.
On Monday, September 13, WGI Sport of the Arts released a special article entitled "Reclaiming a Legacy", featuring an interview with Union Guard Director Lindsey Hansen and Union Visual Coordinator Alan Mueggenborg. The piece captures a historical perspective of Union's strong history in the competitive winter guard activity, offers an even more exciting look at what the Union Guard program is currently offering its students, and entails their present-day successes and bright future in the marching band ('fall guard') and winter guard arenas. > see the entire story here
You're invited to join us for Spirit Night at Qboba Mexican Grill (71st St & Memorial location) tonight, Tuesday September 14. Members of Union High School's Renegade Regiment will perform a Pep Rally at 5:30pm, and dinner can be enjoyed any time before, after, or during the Rally.

Over 80 Union Band students have been selected, by audition, to perform in the Northeast Band Directors Association District Honor Band Clinic & Concert this weekend at Claremore High School. On February 5-6, these students will gather with other honor band students from the area to rehearse with a guest conductor, sharpening their music ensemble skills. The weekend event concludes on Saturday afternoon with honor concerts.
The Honor Concerts are scheduled as follows, and will be held at the Performing Arts Center on the campus of Claremore High School:
