Union Bands welcomes Mr. Wayne Downey (Walnut Creek, CA) for a 3-day residency on September 1-3, 2010. During his stay, Mr. Downey will be working with the Renegade Regiment in preparation for the 2010 competitive marching season, as well as mentoring the band faculty & staff. Wayne Downey is a well established music composer, arranger, instructor, clinician, adjudicator, and competetive programming clinician, in demand throughout the United States and abroad. During his 35+ years as brass arranger and instructor for the Blue Devils Drum & Bugle Corps (Concord, CA), Mr. Downey has been a part of a team that has earned an unprecedented 14 Drum Corps International world championships, including three of the last four (2007, 2009, & 2010). We are excited to have Mr. Downey in rehearsals with our staff and students this week, and look forward to gleaning from him new insights to the excellence that has marked his decades in the marching activity, as we march toward the Grand National Championships in mid-November!Please plan to come out to Union's Tuttle Stadium on Friday evening, September 3 at 7pm to see the Renegade Regiment during their final hour of rehearsal during Mr. Downey's residency.
