Cold Weather Policy
In order to ensure sudent health during cold weather when the Union H.S. Band particpates in outdoor activities such as football games, please be advised of the following:
WHEN DRESSING IN FULL UNIFORM
Students are encouraged to dress in layers beneath the uniform jacket and pants. Additionally, students are encouraged to wear gloves, thick socks, and ear covering (ear muffs, head bands). Hoodies may be worn beneath the uniform jacket, with hood extended from the collar to be pulled up over the head.
WHEN NOT DRESSED IN UNIFORM
Our primary goal is for students to stay warm, with a secondary goal of exhibiting school spirit by way of promoting school colors, designs, logos, etc. The standard attire for non-uniformed participation at football games during cold weather is:
- jeans (with warm layers beneath). Also feasible: wind pants, sweat pants, etc.
- sneakers (with thick, warm socks if possible)
- hoodie, sweatshirt, jacket, etc. (with additional layers beneath). Please note that we request that shirts, jackets, sweatshirts, hoodies, etc. with school spirit branding be worn whenever possible (Union, Union Bands, Renegade Regiment, etc)
- standard winter weather garments and accessories are encouraged (hats, gloves, scarves, etc) and are requested to be worn within the preferred colors listed below.
In addition to the preference for Union-branded garments to be worn whenever possible, we also request that additional garments (gloves, hats, earmuffs, coats, jackets, etc) be neutral or district-oriented in color. We prefer blacks, reds, grays, and whites, and we ask students to avoid: blues, greens, yellows, oranges, pinks, purples, and browns.
PROVISION of SUPPLEMENTAL SUPPLIES
Whenever possible and depending on conditions, hand warmers and rain ponchos will be distributed.
